How We Walk Together
Walking His Way is not simply a collection of writings—it is a shared path.
This covenant describes how we choose to walk together as a community shaped by Christ.
It is not a list of rules.
It is a commitment to a way of being.
Our Shared Commitment
We commit to following Jesus Christ not only in belief, but in practice.
We seek to embody His way through humility, compassion, truthfulness, and love.
Participation in this community means agreeing to walk with others in good faith—even when we disagree.
Christ at the Center
We commit to keeping Christ—not ideology, politics, or certainty—at the center of our conversations.
We will interpret Scripture through His life and teachings.
We will resist using faith as a tool for domination, fear, or exclusion.
We will measure our words and actions by whether they reflect Christ’s love.
Humility in Understanding
We acknowledge that:
- Scripture requires interpretation
- Translation and context matter
- No individual possesses complete understanding
We approach faith as learners, not gatekeepers.
We welcome questions.
We allow room for growth.
We resist the temptation to claim final authority over others’ conscience.
Respect for Human Dignity
Every person is created in the image of God.
We commit to honoring the dignity of:
- LGBTQ+ individuals
- Women and gender-diverse people
- Immigrants and refugees
- Those of other faiths or no faith
- Those navigating doubt, transition, or difference
Disagreement does not justify harm.
Conviction does not excuse dehumanization.
Moral Witness Without Coercion
We believe Christian ethics persuade through love, example, and service—not force.
We reject:
- Coercive faith
- The fusion of Christianity with political dominance
- The use of fear to enforce morality
We affirm religious freedom, conscience, and pluralism as goods that protect both faith and society.
Faithful Speech
We commit to:
- Speaking with honesty and care
- Listening before responding
- Avoiding ridicule, contempt, or demeaning language
- Refusing to weaponize Scripture against others
We seek conversations that build understanding rather than win arguments.
Walking Together
We recognize that discipleship is a journey.
Some walk with certainty.
Some walk with questions.
Some walk wounded.
All are welcome to walk—so long as they do so with respect, humility, and love.
When We Fall Short
We acknowledge that we will fail at times.
When we do, we commit to:
- Reflection rather than defensiveness
- Accountability rather than denial
- Repair rather than exclusion
Grace is not permissiveness—but it is patient.
Our Promise
Walking His Way will remain a space for:
- Faithful learning
- Honest engagement
- Non-coercive discipleship
- Christ-centered formation
This covenant is not enforced through fear.
It is upheld through shared commitment.
Closing Affirmation
We choose to walk His Word together—
not as rulers,
not as gatekeepers,
but as disciples.
May our faith be known not by how tightly we control belief,
but by how faithfully we love.
